So, one week on from the start of the One Week Real Ale Diet, and you must all be wondering how it went, eh? Well, both better and worse than expected!
You will be pleased to hear that by day 4 of the diet I had long since passed my target of losing 10lbs, and was up to 16lbs down! Yep; it worked!
The sad news is that in the process I managed to get rather ill, lose all concentration, spend my time feeling sick and with a very high body temperature. This was not good. Also, by day 4, it seemed inadvisable not to eat any more, so I allowed myself some food and water.
You perhaps won’t be surprised to hear that this added straight to my weight again, and refused to budge. In fact, it seems that the weight loss was largely the result of massive dehydration. Within a day of drinking water, rather a lot of the weight came straight back on.
However, it was an overall success! After the eating fiasco on day 4, eating became a little more frequent for the purposes of survival, but my weight stayed handily underneath half a stone less than the starting point. I think, ladies and gentlemen, we can declare this fiasco an unprecedented success! Now for a small break before embarking on the next leg…
